Build and finish
Rare Breed constructs the WOT trigger using investment-cast 8620 alloy steel, heat-treated to RC 40-45 for wear resistance. The housing receives a black oxide treatment that exceeds typical phosphate finishes in corrosion protection while maintaining consistent lubricity. Unlike aluminum cassette triggers, the steel construction eliminates flex under rapid fire.
Internal components use D2 tool steel for the sear and hammer hooks, surface-ground to ±0.0005″ tolerances. This precision prevents creep while allowing the hard reset to function reliably across 50,000+ cycles in testing. The design incorporates an overtravel stop that’s adjustable without disassembly—a feature normally found only on custom competition triggers.
Compatible platforms
- Mil-spec AR-15 lowers (commercial-spec requires pin adapter)
- AR-9 PCC variants with hammer-fired bolts
- AR-10/LR-308 platforms (verify clearance with oversized triggers)
- Not compatible with binary or forced reset triggers
Installation notes
Installation requires only a punch for pin removal and takes under five minutes in most AR-15 lowers. The trigger group ships pre-assembled with anti-walk pins—simply drop into the receiver and secure with included hardware. No spring modifications or specialized tools needed.
Jovino Gun Shop carries this Rare Breed product as part of our curated selection of performance triggers for serious shooters. The WOT’s combination of speed and reliability makes it a logical upgrade for three-gun competitors, tactical trainers, or anyone who demands mechanical consistency from their AR platform.
